Zoe Fardad
painter

I started oil painting in 2005 at The Hampstead School of Art - London. By then I had only worked with pastel, and had done some drawings on my own.

Painting for me has been an invigorating experience. Creativity and exploration have brought a more degree of awareness and depth into my life, and that is why I love painting.

The art courses I attended during the years 05-08 at the above-referred school helped me in exploring the techniques and discovering my creativity. These courses had a very open approach towards painting, where the students were encouraged to focus on their inner world and use the colours to emerge their own thoughts on canvas. This openness in their approach towards painting helped me in an early development of a firm belief in my ability to practice painting on my own.

My paintings have an abstract theme, one may find elements of surrealism in them, as they connect with my inner world. However, I almost always start with the real world objects or pictures, and throughout the process of painting they develop into either different objects, or scenes with their own stories.

My interest in connecting my works with the real world objects comes from the idea that nature has a voice of its own that needs considerable attention. This voice from the depth of nature often by its relation to the human world becomes more clear and visible.

My aim is to continue working in the future producing more, but more interesting art works. This is because I believe that creativity is an important aspect of our lives for development and growth.
